Businesses from across the West Midlands are being urged to play a part in the delivery of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Firms from across the region are being invited to hear from the contractors involved in the global sporting event, which runs from July 28 to August 8, later this week.

The Meet the Contractors Delivering Birmingham 2022 event - which is taking place on Thursday (Feb 3) - aims to make small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) aware of the potential opportunities with some of the organisations involved in the Games.

It will be one of the final opportunities for SMEs in the region to become a supplier.

Speakers will discuss the operations, technical, production, site infrastructure and personnel supplier contracts available to businesses in the region and how to bid for the work.

David Grady, chief financial officer at Birmingham 2022, said: "As the biggest sporting event ever to be held in the West Midlands, we are committed to making opportunities available for local businesses to support the Games.

"The event will outline these opportunities and provide information about how local suppliers can play a part in Birmingham 2022."
