Two Welsh entrepreneurs have been named amongst the best women in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ for championing innovation in business. Louise Bray, co-founder of Green Wing and Samantha Morgan, founder of TaluCard, are among the 50 women making up the Women in Innovation Awards from Innovate º£½ÇÊÓƵ.

Both will now receive £75,000 grants, personalised business coaching, and access to networking, role modelling and training opportunities.

Cardiff-based Green Wing is a TV production emissions with a carbon management app. Despite ambitious net-zero targets from broadcasters like SKY and the BBC, the industry lacks effective tracking. Backed by 25 years of experience, It streamlines reporting, cuts costs, and promotes greener productions, helping the industry meet its environmental goals.

Bridgend-based TaluCard, is revolutionising financial transactions for the visually impaired. With 73% unable to use smartphones for payments, TaluCard’s tactile and auditory features ensure seamless authentication and secure transactions.

Since launching its Women in Innovation Awards in 2016 the º£½ÇÊÓƵ’S innovation agency has invested over £11m in 200 women innovators and built a community of over 10,500 women business leaders.

Ms Morgan of TaluCard, said: “Our mission is to make secure financial transactions accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or circumstance. Gaining an Innovate º£½ÇÊÓƵ Women in Innovation Award is a tremendous achievement that will help us further develop our technology and reach more users. I’m determined to bring my unique experience to the fintech space and continue developing inclusive, boundary-pushing solutions in accessible technology.”

The awards drew 1,452 applications from women business leaders, 52% up on last year.

Recent data across all Innovate º£½ÇÊÓƵ competitions shows that 1 in 3 successful grant applications are now led by women, a significant jump from 1 in 7 when Women in Innovation was first launched.
