Welsh business confidence levels rose in June bucking a fall for the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ

Business confidence in Wales rose in June bucking a decline for the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ as a whole, according to the latest business barometer from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.

Welsh firms reported higher confidence in their own business prospects month-on-month, up three points at 38%. When taken alongside their optimism in the economy, up nine points to 48%, this gave a headline confidence reading of 43%, compared to 37% in May.

Looking ahead to the next six months, Welsh businesses identified their top target areas for growth as investing in their team, for example through training (47%), evolving their offering, for example by introducing new products or services (43%), and investing in sustainability (26%).

The barometer, which surveys 1,200 businesses monthly, provides early signals about º£½ÇÊÓÆµ economic trends.

Overall º£½ÇÊÓÆµ business confidence fell nine points in June to a positive net balance of 41%.

Yorkshire and the Humber (48%) was the most confident º£½ÇÊÓÆµ nation or region in June, closely followed by the North East of England (47%) and the East Midlands (46%).
