Vacuum solutions firm acquires Halesowen engineering business

The deal comes as the company celebrates its 50th year in business in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ

A growing vacuum solutions firm has acquired a Halesowen engineering business.

Busch (º£½ÇÊÓÆµ) Ltd, based in Telford, has purchased Vacuum Furnace Engineering Ltd (VFE) for an undisclosed sum.

Established in 1971, Busch is the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ subsidiary of the global Busch Vacuum Solutions group, which provides vacuum and overpressure technology. The German group operates in 44 different countries and has 3,500 employees.

Vacuum Furnace Engineering was founded in 1985, employs 89 staff and recorded a turnover of £16 million in 2019.

Tim Hulbert, managing director of Busch (º£½ÇÊÓÆµ) Ltd, said: "This is an exciting time for the Busch º£½ÇÊÓÆµ team. 2021 is our 50th anniversary in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ and the acquisition of VFE marks a significant commitment by the Busch group to the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ market, ensuring we are well positioned for further long term service and growth.

David Byrne, VFE chief executive officer, said: "Operationally, VFE will remain focused on the markets and customers that benefit from the team's expertise in vacuum metallurgy and composites. The existing Busch º£½ÇÊÓÆµ business will continue to serve customers under the Busch brand.
