Recruitment firm Jackson Hogg has introduced a four-day week in a bid to help it continue its growth.

The Newcastle recruitment and outsourcing firm, which also has a Teesside office, has switched employees from a five-day week to four days without changing salaries. It hopes the move will increase productivity, improve employees’ wellbeing and allow it to bolster its teams as it seeks to grow.

Under the plans, Jackson Hogg’s staff will take one day per week as a rest day, subject to operational commitments. Staff will alternate rest days to ensure full coverage throughout the week, with the company’s offices remaining open all week.

Jackson Hogg, which celebrates its 10th anniversary in October, carried out research into a four-day week that saw it study global corporations that have reduced working hours, as well as Durham-based Atom Bank. It also looked at data from countries such as Denmark and Germany, which have shorter working hours than the º£½ÇÊÓƵ but are more productive.

Chief executive Richard Hogg said: “We are increasing the focus between Monday and Thursday, condensing each working day to provide even greater emphasis on supporting clients’ needs. Our services, the standard of support and the outcomes we deliver, will all be amplified.

“The change won’t compromise any of the qualities clients have grown accustomed to receiving - it will, in fact, do the opposite, because employees will be far more efficient and productive. Our success comes through delivery of talent to clients, and we’ll never stop doing that.”

Mr Hogg said the company, which has a head count of 110, was looking to add around 10 people a month, and hoped the four-day week would help it attract staff.
