Two of Wales' leading storage firms merge with expansion plans

Blue Self Storage and Maltings Document Storage Solutions have merged


Two storage firms in Cardiff have merged with plans for significant investment and expansion. While continuing to operate under their existing brands, Blue Self Storage and Maltings Document Storage Solutions (MDSS) have joined forces under new entity Blue Storage Group.

While both companies are trading profitability they said the enlarged group will allow for greater investment and the ability to take advantage of new funding opportunities to grow operations and expand geographically.

The new group has revenues of £5m and a workforce of 26.

Blue Self Storage is one of the leading container storage providers in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ, providing storage services for homes, business, vehicles, and removal companies. The fast-growing company has facilities across the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ in Cardiff, Tyneside, Bridgend with a new operation to launch shortly in Gloucester.

Operating for more than 40 years Maltings Document Storage Solutions provides document storage and management solutions. It plans to expand further into England in the near future.

Chris Bryan, managing director of Blue Self Storage, will assume responsibility for the strategic direction of the new enlarged entity with Dean Daly continuing as operations director. Gareth Oram will also continue as a non-executive director of MDSS, with the day-to-day operations being steered by commercial director Chris James.
