Turnover more than doubles as profits surge almost 150% at global logistics company

A global logistics company more than doubled its turnover as its profits surged by almost 150% during its latest financial year, according to new documents.

Edge Worldwide Logistics, which is headquartered in Salford, has reported a turnover of £149.6m for the 12 months to June 30, 2021, up from the £71.2m it achieved in the prior year.

The company's pre-tax profits also increased from £3.3m to £8.1m over the same period.

Edge Worldwide Logistics was founded in 1989 by Alan Edge and provides air, shipping and distribution services across the world.

A statement signed off by the board said the rise in revenue was as a result of "growth in domestic and international markets, across both the existing and new customer base".

It added: "The company delivered strong year-on-year growth and continues to focus on improving customer experience through innovative technology."

The increase in pre-tax profits, the business said, is "reflective of continued profitable growth in the core business, using technology and automation to drive efficiency across the cost base".
