Durham training provider Learning Curve Group has set out plans to create almost 1,000 new jobs and target new parts of the º£½ÇÊÓƵ as part of a four-year growth strategy.

The Durhamgate company, which last year received its second private equity investment, set out expansion plans at an event for its employees at Newcastle’s St James’ Park.

Learning Curve currently employs around 550 people – called its ‘Purple People’ – and provides training for around 200,000 people a year through apprenticeship programmes, flexible learning courses, advanced learning qualifications and strategic partnerships with FE providers.

The North East company recently opened a business academy at Darlington and has made a number of acquisitions in the last year to continue its growth. It has also received funding from the Government’s National Skills Fund to provide digital bootcamps in regions around England.

CEO Brenda McLeish said: “It has been amazing to have all of our Purple People together in one place again after a long 18 months.

“Learning Curve Group wouldn’t be the successful business it is today without the dedicated staff that work hard day-in-day-out to transform lives through learning. This is our largest LCG event to date and I am so proud of how the business has grown to support over one million learners across the country.

“As LCG continues to grow it is extremely important to both me and the executive team that we keep the strong culture that we have here. Since acquiring three new businesses since the beginning of the pandemic, it is the first time that we have all come together as one purple family.
