Time running out for firms to claim Covid restart grants

One-off grants available to non-essential retail and hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses

Down but not out - closed shops in Market Street, Leicester

Leicester businesses affected by the pandemic have until the end of June to apply for restart grants.

One-off grants are available to non-essential retail and hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses.

To be eligible the business must have been the ratepayer at 1 April 2021.

Grants have already been paid to businesses that were receiving on-going lockdown grant payments and to qualifying new businesses that have applied.

Any new applications from eligible businesses that have not already received a grant must be made by June 30.

Leicester City Mayor Peter Soulsby said: “Lockdown restrictions have affected businesses across the city, and these grants can provide much-needed financial support.

“I’d urge any businesses that has not yet received a restart grant to check whether they are eligible and make sure they claim the help to which they are entitled.”
