Three North East companies win big at the Government's National Apprenticeship Awards

Three North East firms and five young workers have been honoured with awards at the National Apprenticeship Awards 2020.

The annual awards highlight businesses and individuals that have showed great success during their apprenticeships, an achievement that has been particularly hard during the pandemic.

The regional finals were held this week with virtual ceremonies taking place across the country on Monday.

More than 1,100 entries were received º£½ÇÊÓÆµ firms and the North East had three companies picking up awards.

Housing association Home Group took home the British Army Award for Large Employer of the Year, with County Durham Fire and Rescue Service highly commended in the same category.

Cumbria Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust also picked up a prize after winning the The QA Award for Macro Employer of the Year.

Meanwhile, County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service received the Accenture Award for Recruitment Excellence. Home Group was highly commended in this category.

Along with the three firms winning awards, a host of individuals were also awarded prizes for their hard work during their apprenticeships.
