THG activist investor buys stake in global cyber security firm NCC Group

Kelso Group is chaired by former DLA partner Sir Nigel Knowles while other investors include Luke Johnson, Nigel Wray and Umar Kamani

An activist investor has bought a stake in global cyber security firm NCC Group.

Kelso Group has acquired one million shares in the Manchester company at an average price of 108p, representing a stake of 0.3%.

The group is best known for investing in THG at the start of the year and has been vocal about what direction it should go in ever since. It has also recently invested in The Works.

London-based Kelso Group is led by chief executive John Goold who previously co-founded Arden Partners before joining Zeus Capital as CEO. It is chaired by former DLA partner Sir Nigel Knowles while other investors include Luke Johnson, Nigel Wray and Umar Kamani.

NCC Group has a market capitalisation of £335m and posted a revenue of £335.1m for the year to March 31, 2023, as well as a pre-tax loss of £4.3m. It is made up of two divisions: software resilience, and assurance.

In a statement issued to the London Stock Exchange, Mr Goold said: "NCC is a special company on the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ stock market with two distinct businesses. There is an experienced management team assembled and we support them to deliver shareholder value."
