A Gloucestershire cyber company has merged with an Australian-based digital security firm to create a £60m turnover business.

Amiosec, in Tewkesbury, and Canberra's Penten have combined to create PentenAmio - an AI cyber defence technology company.

Adrian Cunningham, founder of Gloucestershire's Amiosec, will serve as executive co-chair of the merged business alongside Penten founder Matthew Wilson.

As part of the merger, Matt Thomas has been appointed chief executive of PentenAmio’s º£½ÇÊÓƵ operations. He joins the new firm following a career in defence and cyber security, most recently serving as senior vice president of markets during a six-year stint at NCC Group, following 17 years at QinetiQ in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ.

Meanwhile, Sarah Bailey, previously finance chief at Penten, has been appointed chief executive of PentenAmio Australia.

“This is a moment of global inflection,” said Mr Wilson. “Rising geopolitical tension and increasing digital threats demand transformative technology responses. PentenAmio is purpose-built to meet this demand leveraging scalable, sovereign deep tech solutions.”

PentenAmio has approximately 300 security-cleared professionals with sovereign facilities in both Australia and the º£½ÇÊÓƵ. According to the company, it means the new business is now one of the largest globally dedicated to secure classified mobile communications and AI enabled defence for government and military organisations.

The company delivers end-to-end proprietary digital security technology that safeguards the most sensitive information and enables active defence against sophisticated threats.
