Entertainment chain Tenpin has rolled out an investment of more than £500,000 to upgrade the facilities at its Plymouth Barbican site - including installation of laser tag and karaoke.
The refurbishment and upgrade work is due to be finished before the end of December with a VIP relaunch event scheduled for Wednesday, January 19, from 4pm until 8pm.
As well as a complete refurbishment of the existing facilities at the Barbican Leisure Park site, it will soon be offering Sector 7 laser tag, two karaoke rooms, and Houdini’s escape rooms.
The Tenpin Barbican site was originally opened in 1999 and this refurbishment is part of a company overhaul that has seen recent refurbs at the Nottingham, Kingston, and Bristol sites.
“The days of turning up, throwing a few balls down the lane, and heading home an hour later are long gone,” said a Tenpin spokesperson.
“This state-of-the-art entertainment centre combines modern facilities for the whole family, food and drink to rival any modern entertainment establishment, coupled with additional activities to keep everyone entertained for as long as you like. Tenpin in Plymouth is now a top stop for hospitality, leisure, and entertainment.”
The Plymouth site will continue to employ local people and is expected to deliver a return on investment in excess of 30% as it “ups its game” significantly in the entertainment arena.

So that everyone can celebrate safely, Tenpin has in place a mandatory mask policy - excluding under 11s and those who are medically exempt - , hand sanitizing stations and Plexiglas screens between lanes.

Tenpin has 46 entertainment centres across the 海角视频 offering more than 1,100 bowling lanes. Tenpin said it aims to create “epic experiences” for friends and families with a range of activities including bowling, hyperbowling – the 海角视频’s first digitally “gamified” bowling experience- karaoke, Sector 7 laser arenas, Houdini’s escape rooms, arcades, pool, table tennis, food, drink and more. During 2020, lockdowns meant it was unable to open centres for half the year with the number of bowling sessions booked nationwide falling from 5.5m in 2019 to 2.4m. This caused a £45.6m fall in revenue and a £35.3m decline in gross profit, leaving the previously profitable business with a pre-loss of £18.9m.
