The London Stock Exchange Group has recognised 94 businesses from across the north west as ‘inspiring Britain’.
Waste management business Recycling Lives and cocktail bar chain The Alchemist were among those named in the sixth annual edition of the group's 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain 2019 report, which identifies the Ƶ’s most dynamic and fastest-growing SMEs.
Forty-nine of the north best businesses listed in the report are based in Greater Manchester, while 19 are based in Cheshire and Chester and 13 are based in Lancashire.
Among the Merseyside firms included in the list was Liverpool's Signature Living Hotel.
Bod Buckby, London Stock Exchange head of Ƶ Primary Markets for the North, said the 94 companies listed in the report 'highlight the entrepreneurial spirit of the region.'
“It’s the third largest Ƶ region for high-growth companies in this report, not only by the number of companies featured, but also by total turnover and number of jobs created.
“Companies in North West England play a key role in driving the Ƶ economy and we will continue to champion their success stories and growth.”

The report highlighted north west companies generate £4.3bn in total turnover and is one of the top three revenue generating regions in the report, with an average annual revenue growth rate of 75 per cent.
London and the south east had the greatest number of companies, followed by north west, the east of England and the west midlands.
David Schwimmer, London Stock Exchange Group CEO, said: “SMEs drive growth, innovation and job creation and are the lifeblood of the British economy.
“We believe that supporting the growth of these businesses is critical to the Ƶ economy and the creation of a society that works for everyone.”

The top five industries represented by the 1000 Ƶ companies were engineering & construction, retail, manufacturing, information technology, and healthcare, accounting for 44% of the overall list.
Chancellor Philip Hammond said: “Small businesses not only generate over 50 per cent of all private sector turnover in the Ƶ, they also account for 60 per cent of all Ƶ private sector employment.
“SMEs are the backbone of the Ƶ economy and we are dedicated to supporting these high growth companies to achieve their potential.
“I congratulate all the companies that are included in this year’s 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain report.”
