A 海角视频 GPS-tracking company has been named Europe鈥檚 鈥榟ottest鈥 tech startup of 2020.

FocalPoint, which is based in Cambridge and Bristol, scooped the accolade at the Europa Awards - one of Europe鈥檚 biggest tech start-up competitions.

The business has developed technology that is used to improve global navigation satellite systems around the world.

It鈥檚 used on personal devices and autonomous platforms as well as across industries such as transport (autonomous driving) and the creative sector (augmented reality and virtual reality).

Hundreds of European start-up founders and their teams gathered on Zoom for the awards, whose past winners include Spotify, Transferwise, Soundcloud and Babylon Health.

The virtual event was hosted by TechCrunch editor Mike Butcher who announced the category winners online.

Winners were chosen by public vote and a panel including venture capitalists and industry experts.

Founder and chief executive Ramsey Faragher said: 鈥淭his is a fantastic recognition of the hard work of the whole FocalPoint team and comes at an incredibly exciting time for the business.

鈥淲e're honoured to be added to such a formidable list of European Tech stars, and we look forward to the coming months.鈥

Ramsey, who founded FocalPoint in 2015, said the company was 鈥渉appy to bask in the glory鈥 of winning.

He added: 鈥淲e鈥檙e working full tilt on integration for our S-GPS software into commercial GPS chips and are putting a sports wearable demo through final testing. There鈥檚 lots to come.鈥

The Europas were founded in 2009 to recognise tech start-ups from across Europe.
