The plastic-free shopping revolution is ramping up in Nottinghamshire as a new shop prepares to open its doors.

Businesswoman Kate Cox, of West Bridgford , quit her job in marketing to follow her dream of setting up The Good Weigh, a zero waste shop selling food stuffs and household essentials.

And the store is now set to become a reality after a crowdfunding target of £5,000 to start the business was reached, .

This has been surpassed and she is now close to £8,000 being raised by supporters, which she set as her stretch target (a secondary goal if the first is achieved).

Mrs Cox has confirmed the shop will launch inside Lovely Fodder in Trent Boulevard, run by husband Gavin, on July 27.

She said: "I'm so excited about reaching the target and totally overwhelmed that we are nearly at stretch.

"This was only a pipe dream a few months back and now it's actually happening. I'm so grateful to the supporters for making this a reality."

Mrs Cox also intends to supply local eggs and honey to customers and household items which will be on offer include washing up liquid, fabric conditioner and some toiletries.
