Some of the biggest names in Welsh sport join board of expanding media firm

Some of the biggest names in Welsh sport, including former rugby internationals Mike Phillip and Shane Williams, have joined the board of expanding media production firm Media Atom.

Also joining as directors of the firm is endurance athlete Lowri Morgan and former England and Glamorgan cricketer Robert Croft.

The business was set up in 2017 by Geraint Rowlands, whose senior roles in a career spanning more than 30 years have included being head of sport and broadcasting at S4C, and Sion Thomas, who was previously executive producer for BBC Wales Sport.

The business specialises in sports, events and corporate productions, and is currently producing coverage of the Under 20s World Rugby Championship for S4C, which included Wales’ historic win over New Zealand.

The new directors will contribute to the company’s content development, as well as client relationships in Wales, the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ and internationally.

 

The also have also taken majority equity stakes in the business, with an agreed incentive mechanism for content production secured.

Last year the business, which is in discussions to take up space at the Welsh Government-owned Gloworks creative hub in Cardiff, generated revenues of around £750,000
