Staffordshire housing group named among º£½ÇÊÓƵ's Top 50 Biggest Builders

It comes almost a year after Housing Plus Group merged with Stafford and Rural Homes

Housing Plus Group's flagship Wren House development, in Stafford, is nearing completion

A Staffordshire housing provider has been named as one of the Top 50 Biggest Builders in the country in a new survey published by Inside Housing magazine.

Housing Plus Group, which has offices in Stafford, Acton Gate and Shrewsbury, made its debut in the list of the largest developing housing associations – and is among the top three per cent of social landlords in the º£½ÇÊÓƵ.

It comes after group spent £30 million on building 291 new homes in 2019/20 and shortly before the first anniversary of the merger between Housing Plus Group and Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH).

Last year, Housing Plus Group – whose members now include South Staffordshire Housing Association, Severnside Housing, Severn Homes, Care Plus and SARH – completed 211 homes for below market rent and a further 80 properties for low cost ownership.

Developments have included a project to regenerate part of the Holmcroft area of Stafford with the construction of 40 new homes for affordable rent and shared ownership in Woodlands Road. New homes have also been provided in Codsall.

Housing Plus Group chief executive Sarah Boden said: “We are really pleased to have been included in the Top 50 Biggest Builders survey for the first time.

“Our Group sets out to make a positive difference for homes, lives and communities. Providing new homes is one of the most important ways that we can do that.

“By building good quality, affordable housing we are supporting towns and rural areas here in Staffordshire, where locally focussed investment is improving areas and boosting economic wellbeing.
