A popular gin school is defying the economic gloom by opening at three new locations around the 海角视频 – and honouring the heroes of the Covid-19 crisis.
Nelson’s Distillery and School, based in Staffordshire, is undergoing a major expansion plan and opening new schools within hotels in Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds next month.
Former chef Neil Harrison launched the business in 2016 at its headquarters in Uttoxeter.
As well as creating his own gin, Neil teaches the craft of distilling to a steady stream of enthusiasts at his gin school.
Now, thanks to its increasing popularity, new schools will be opened next month at the Clayton Hotels at Manchester Airport and in Albert Street in Birmingham, as well as Hilton Hotel in Leeds City.
Neil said: “Just like for any business, the recent economic climate has been challenging for us.
“Thankfully, we have still seen strong demand for our products and our gin school in Uttoxeter has now reopened adhering to Covid-19 guidelines.
“That has meant that we have been able to continue with our expansion plans and will open new schools in Manchester, Birmingham and Leeds.

“Not only will this create an economic boost to these cities, it will also offer an extra source of entertainment for people looking to try something new and different in a safe way after what has been a testing year for everyone.”
To mark the opening, Nelson’s will be continuing to mark the effort of key workers during recent months by holding a ‘heroes day’ at each of its four locations.
The events will see frontline and key workers invited to participate in a gin school or given the opportunity to attend Nelson’s Uttoxeter base for a Tour, Talk and Taste event.
Nelson’s has been a proud supporter of the NHS throughout the coronavirus outbreak and created a special limited edition blue gin to mark the efforts of NHS workers.
A donation was made to NHS Together Covid-19 charities for each bottle sold, which has already raised £30,000.
Neil added: “In our own small way, we wanted to recognise the outstanding work being done by people who are very much the heroes of the battle against Covid-19.
“The Heroes Day prizes are valued in excess of £10,000 and, with the donations from the NHS gin, we are delighted to have given back more than £40,000 to those who have contributed most to the country during this difficult period.”
