In a statement, the company said its new auditor, PwC, has "requested additional time to complete its internal processes in order to finalise its audit report".

It comes after Speedy Hire said it was both "frustrated and disappointed" after delaying its accounts last year. They were audited by KPMG.

Speedy Hire said it continues to expect to report results in line with the board's forecasts.

It also confirmed that on May 26 it extended its existing £180m asset- based finance facility by a further two years to July 31, 2026, on existing terms.
