Households across Bristol, North Somerset, Bath, and North Easter Somerset are being encouraged to apply for funding to install energy efficiency and renewable upgrades through the Bright Green Homes project.

Delivered by Bristol City Leap, a new partnership between Bristol City Council and renewable energy company Ameresco, the project has been designed to bring in investments of nearly £500m in low carbon energy projects and create over 1,000 jobs in its first five years.

Energy efficiency upgrades will be determined on a case-by-case basis and will range from insulation measures such as loft and cavity wall, to the installation of renewable and low carbon technologies such as solar panels and heat pumps.

The measures are available to households who meet the eligibility criteria. Households must currently be on electric, oil, LPG, or solid fuel heating, must have an energy performance certification rating of G, F, E or D, must live in the areas specified and have an annual household income of £31,000 or lower.

Households can apply to the scheme via the Bristol City Leap website where they will be asked to complete a short questionnaire to determine their eligibility.

Home improvements for eligible households can be fully funded and will be available up until March 2025.

David White, operations director for Bristol City Leap, commented: “Our Bright Green Homes project will help reduce the energy bills of hundreds of families in Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset while tackling the climate emergency. I encourage all eligible households to apply to the scheme through the Bristol City Leap website”.
