A Grimsby business specialising in car and commercial vehicle sales and repairs is preparing for a green future under new ownership.
Great Coates Motors has been bought out by Allan McCartney during the pandemic and he is now accelerating the transition to cleaner driving.
Investments in both serving the burgeoning electric vehicle market and putting the brakes on the business’s own carbon footprint have been made.

Mr McCartney said: “These are exciting times ahead of us and our team as we move swiftly into electric vehicles.
“We are a Bosch car service garage which gives our technicians access to the latest training, tooling and technology enabling us to service and repair new electric vehicles.
“We’ve also installed the latest electric charge point system from fellow local business Myenergi on site.
“Having benefited from our recent grant funding we have been fortunate to add cost-efficient electrical heating systems and LED lighting within our workshops, which run in conjunction with our solar panel system. Reducing our carbon footprint is something we feel both necessary and passionate about and also provides great efficiency within our business.”

Service work is complemented by sales, rental and contract hire business departments on the expanded South Humberside Industrial Estate site, close to the A180 entrance to the town where a team of 27 has been assembled.
It follows a major investment by fellow Grimsby business GBA one junction down.
The automotive logistics specialist has developed the former Jewsons site into a technical centre beside the primary import and export terminal it operates at Port of Grimsby.
As reported when launched, it plans to make it an Electric Vehicle Centre of Excellence, working with garages and dealerships to provide training.
Myenergi has also recently opened its Stallingborough headquarters, with manufacturing set to follow from the former Wickes site, also beside the A180 entrance.
