Over the past seven years Bristol based Cubik innovation has experienced rapid growth.
Specialising in the design and development of electronic products, the business has gone from occupying a small office at the Bristol & Bath Science Park to now having a 5500 sqft office space at Verona House in Fishponds.
Their in house manufacturing facility puts the business in a unique position where they can offer their customers services for all aspects of the product development lifecycle under one roof.
Where it all began
Cubik was established in 2012 by Paul Mullen. In the wake of the sale of his first business, PaniK Technology, Paul was looking for a new venture that would offer the customer a complete product design service from initial concept right the way through to production.
At the same time, the foundations were being laid for a new and exciting local development – the Bristol and Bath Science Park. Paul took on a small room in the annexed Innovation Centre and came up with the concept of Cubik Innovation. A unique one-stop shop for the inventor or small business looking to develop electronic products.
Paul began to write quotes for projects and, after a short period, was able to employ three enthusiastic engineers.
How did they progress?

By 2015, the team had grown to fourteen members of staff. They began to win more, larger scale, projects and became a success story amongst the local engineering community. In recognition of what Cubik had achieved, they were awarded the accolade of Start Up Business of the Year at the Bristol Live &Bristol Post Business Awards.
Cubik quickly outgrew their space at the Science Park and the following year the decision was made to relocate to Verona House in Fishponds.
The move enabled Cubik to double its manufacturing capability which now has a production team of eight skilled engineers and two semi-automated assembly lines.
Where are they now?
Fast forward to 2019 and Cubik is a multiskilled team of over twenty-four technical and creative individuals offering services in electronic, mechanical, industrial design, software and many other design specialities.
Their production facility is the biggest department in the business and has shipped over 20,000 products from its 2750sqft of manufacturing space to date.

After winning Start Up Business of the Year in 2015, Cubik returned to the Business Awards this year as category sponsors for the Best Tech Business Award which was won by eCommerce enterprise, The Pixel.
For Cubik, the highlight of the evening was collecting the award for Best Engineering or Manufacturing Business. After starting out with just one engineer in a converted office, the award recognises the significant growth the business has achieved and its continued contribution to the local economy and community.
