An ex-army officer will be talking about why military veterans make great employees at a business breakfast hosted by the Bristol Post and Barclays next week.

Lisa Marr, who served for 16 years in the Royal Logistic Corps (RLC), will be speaking about her experiences in the army and her job now overseeing the veterans’ programme at the bank.

Much of Lisa’s service as part of the RLC was spent in Germany but she also served on operations in Bosnia, Kosovo and Iraq.

She also worked for the New Zealand Defence Force, commanding the South Islands Military Administration Centre servicing some 8,000 military and civilian personnel, which took on a new level when the Christchurch earthquakes hit.

Lisa was appointed as the Mayor of Christchurch’s military liaison officer, providing an interface for the military, the mayoral office and local government, and the various organisations which deploy during states of emergency.

Returning to the º£½ÇÊÓƵ after five years, Lisa re-joined the British Army as the engagement officer for 4 Infantry Brigade based in Catterick.

At the beginning of April, she started with Barclays as the Veterans’ Employment Transition Support (VETS) Programme manager at Barclays.

Steven Beavan, Barclays head of SME, and Hannah Baker, Bristol Post business editor, will also be speaking at the event on Thursday, September 26.
