A Bristol lifestyle and sports distributor founded 85 years ago has secured 拢8.5m and is planning to use the funding to grow internationally.

Shiner, a third-generation business in Almondsbury, manufactures and distributes goods and equipment including clothing, roller skates, skateboards and protective gear for brands including JD, ASOS, Skatehut, Surfdome and Decathlon.

The company recently expanded into the US and Europe, and has offices and warehouses in California and the Netherlands. It agreed the package with HSBC 海角视频 for its Dutch-based subsidiary.

The cash injection will help the business grow into the European market post-Brexit, according to Shiner managing director Charlie Allen.

He said it was a 鈥渉ugely exciting鈥 time for the company, which has doubled its turnover in the last 18 months.

鈥淎ction sports are becoming more popular than ever, with a significant increase in people participating in skateboarding across the globe since the pandemic began and great exposure through the Olympics,鈥 he said.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a great time for us to expand and we couldn鈥檛 have done it without the help of our HSBC 海角视频 relationship manager, David Skyrme, who ensured the process ran seamlessly.鈥

As well as distributing international brands, Shiner also has its own branded products, such as skateboards, scooters and roller skates, all designed in the 海角视频 from its Bristol headquarters.
