Seven companies in Wales have made an influential list of the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ’s fastest-growing  private mid-market firms.

They feature in the Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 league table.

Ranking is based on sales in their latest available accounts. Companies are required to have operating margins that exceed 2%.

Moreover, sales in the latest year must have grown by 5% or more for companies with the highest sales, graduated to 10% or more for those with lower sales; or profit growth must have been more 5% or more.

The biggest mid-market growth company in Wales is the Trade Centre Group.

The Neath-based car supermarket business, which was founded in 2000 by chairman Mark Bailey, is ranked 90th.

It opened two new sites in 2018 and grew sales 44% to £257.4m, with profits up 46% to £22.4m.

The second highest ranked privately owned Welsh firm, at 104th, is Swansea-based car dealership Day's Motor Group for a 10% rise in turnover .
