Newcastle healthcare company Salutaris People is planning to open 10 private coronavirus testing suites and create 100 jobs in preparation for the return of international air travel.

The company, which is headquartered at the Brunswick Industrial Estate in Newcastle, is one of the Government's approved Covid-19 test providers and believes that there will be a huge surge in demand for private coronavirus testing when overseas flights resume.

Salutaris is already working in partnership with the Test Assurance Group and Liverpool John Lennon Airport to provide rapid PCR testing for airline passengers, private individuals and businesses.

But now the company is now preparing to launch 10 new private testing centres and will initially start with four test sites located in Newcastle, Stockton, Sunderland and Wilmslow, in Cheshire.

The biggest part of the company's expansion will be made in the North East for customers wishing to fly from Newcastle International Airport and Teesside International Airport.

When all four test sites have launched, the company will create 100 new jobs in administration, healthcare, marketing and sales positions.

Commenting on the expansion plans, managing director Ross Tomkins said: “We are delighted to be able to announce this first phase of expansion in our testing services across both the North East and North West of England.

"It builds on our existing medical and occupational healthcare businesses, which have a combined 30 years of expertise in this sector.
