North East architecture practice Ryder has expanded further into the North West with the opening of its fifth º£½ÇÊÓƵ office.

The company launched in 1953 in Newcastle and has since branched out to have offices in London, Glasgow, Liverpool, Hong Kong, Vancouver and Amsterdam.

Now the business has opened a base in Manchester, creating 18 jobs so far, on the back of rising demand in the region.

Led by director Sheldon Walsh, Ryder’s Manchester team will take the lead on a variety of regionally based projects across sectors including civic, education, healthcare, infrastructure, leisure, manufacturing, office, residential, retail and science.

Work has already begun on four health centres across Oldham, Stockport Emergency Centre and Pathology Centre, and The Factory, a 13,000sqm exhibition and performance space that will promote the extraordinary vision, diversity and potential of Manchester’s cultural life.

Ryder has developed strong connections within the local community and region since the launch of its Liverpool base in 2007, and previously worked alongside Manchester City Council to transform the Grade II-star listed library.

It also designed Tameside One, a mixed use community space for the Vision Tameside project supported by Tameside Borough Council and Tameside College.

The opening of Ryder’s Manchester office also comes as it welcomes a new cohort of PlanBEE (Built Environment Education) apprentices.
