Family-owned and Ruthin headquartered Jones Bros Civil Engineering has opened a new office in Cardiff to support growing workloads.
The £155m turnover business operates in a wide range of sectors across the Ƶ, including highways, flood and marine defence, waste management and renewable energy.
Recent schemes delivered in south Wales include major low-carbon energy developments, such as the Uskmouth battery storage facility and Swansea Greener Grid Park. Established in the 1950s, Jones Bros owns one of the largest plant fleets in the Ƶ and employs approximately 500 people.
The firm's new office at Southgate House is in the centre of Cardiff.
The firm’s head of commercial Steffan Morgan said: “This is a significant and exciting milestone for the company. While we’ve had an active presence in south Wales for many years, this move underlines our commitment to the region and our focus on growing sustainably.
“It also enables us to embed ourselves more deeply in the local community, support our teams more effectively, and invest in long-term opportunities across south Wales and beyond.”
The Cardiff office adds to the company’s base in Bellshill, Scotland.
Contracts director Geraint Thomas said: “It’s wonderful to see Jones Bros continue to evolve and grow. We have projects the length and breadth of the country, from Orkney to Havant and the Isle of Grain to the Isle of Anglesey. To make sure we are providing clients with the best service, having offices in as many areas of the Ƶ is important.
“This base in Cardiff allows us to access our schemes in south Wales more readily, but also those in the south of England, such as Havant Thicket Reservoir.”
It recently announced it had secured a £10m contract to deliver infrastructure for a tidal energy scheme off the Anglesey coast. The Morlais project will see Jones Bros undertake cabling work at Parc Cybi, Holyhead - strengthening the grid connection ready for when tidal scheme becomes operational.
Morlais is the largest consented tidal energy project in Europe and is also the biggest tidal development run by a social enterprise in Menter Môn Morlais, Once fully operational it will generate up to 240 megawatt of clean electricity.
