RSK Group in Cheshire buys Loughborough's CR Civil Engineering

CRC has a turnover approaching £40 million and employs 250 staff working on motorway, rail and airfield projects

Loughborough civil engineers Pendragon Holdings has been sold to environmental, engineering and technical services provider RSK Group.

Pendragon, which trades as CR Civil Engineering (CRC), was formed in 2000 by Carl and Mandy Roberts and has since grown to become one of the region’s biggest civil engineering groups, serving big clients such as Highways England, the MOD and Network Rail.

Mr Roberts will stay on as managing director, leading the business within RSK’s contracting division.

The sale was completed with the support of Midlands-based Smith Cooper Corporate Finance and Flint Bishop Solicitors.

CRC has a turnover approaching £40 million and employs 250 staff and 70 freelance contractors. It now operates from four locations in England and Wales, and owns a range of heavy plant.

The business specialises in highways groundworks, and has worked on smart motorway projects such as the M27, highway junctions such as junction 23 of the M1 at Castle Donington, widening work on the M4 and highways infrastructure work.

It also carries out rail contracts, working on platforms, embankment stabilisation, groundworks for electrification – including the London to Corby stretch of the Midlands Mainline – bridge modification, drainage and car parks.

Another area of expertise includes airfield work, including lighting, taxiways, drainage and perimeter roads.
