The revenue of one of the North West's largest import/export and haulage groups was driven up by more than 40% during its latest financial year, new documents have revealed.

Burnley-based EFS Global has reported a revenue of £37.8m for the 12 months to March 31, 2020, up from £26.3m.

Over the same period, its pre-tax profits went from £1.1m to £646,584.

The figures have been included in newly filed documents with Companies House.

The news comes after the company completed the acquisition of a counterpart headquartered at the World Freight Terminal in Manchester earlier this month.

The deal followed a number of other acquisitions made by EFS in recent years including Euro SDB, CS Brunt Freight Services, Horizon Distribution, Bradtrans International, Euro-Tran Despatch, JRS Traction, PDQ Specialist Courier Services, FWD Freight Services and Caistor Distribution.

A statement signed off by the board said: "In a challenging global and º£½ÇÊÓƵ market environment, the directors consider that the group has performed in line with expectations.
