A Manchester-based start-up which aims to ‘turn the recruitment sector on its head’ has announced ‘aggressive’ expansion plans.

Caroo, which counts Co-op, Boohoo and Missguided among its clients, matches relevant candidates with employers based on skills and experience - rather than job titles - through an app.

The company has announced a nine-month plan to roll out the platform across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ and has set its sights on entering the European and US markets before the end of 2021.

Managing director Gareth Peterson said he plans to sign-up 8,000 clients within 15 months on top of 20,000 new candidate profiles per month.

The company said it saw a ‘spike’ in sign ups from January to June as ‘employers navigated tough market conditions’ caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The firm has projected app downloads to reach one million by the end of 2021 up from the current 100,000 downloads.

The company also expects to be self funded within six months.

The plans come after backing from Optimise Capital, a Wilmslow-based private equity firm, which has invested £2m into the company to date, with a planned £5m annual investment in marketing.
