People in Newcastle and Gateshead are being offered the chance to receive free start-up training and support by a Queen’s Enterprise Award-winning organisation dedicated to teaching how to start a business without getting into debt.

Rebel Business School is coming to Tyneside at the end of June with a mission to show budding entrepreneurs how to start-up a business without the burden of debt.

The enterprise was set up in Wokingham, Berkshire, 11 years ago by Simon Paine and Alan Donegan, to teach some of society’s most disadvantaged people how to start up their own enterprises on shoestring budgets.

The online courses are free to residents in Newcastle and Gateshead and focus on giving attendees from all backgrounds the opportunity, knowledge and confidence to turn their business ideas into reality.

Entrepreneurs from the region are backing the Rebel School’s drive to encourage entrepreneurship, including entrepreneur and business coach Sarah Pittendrigh, James Ogilvie, co-founder and director of Social Co, Sally Minns, CEO and stylist at Good Day Studio, Michelle Crewe from House of Crewe and Craig Smith, founder and director of The Printed Bag Shop.

Globally, Rebel Business School has helped people out of work, seeking self-employment, those who have suddenly found their career taking a different direction, or those ‘5 to 9’ entrepreneurs who run a business in the evenings after work, along with many others in different circumstances who didn’t think they could start up a business and needed some encouragement.

The courses focus on work-focused skills to help people improve their job prospects.

Simon Paine, Rebel Business School’s co-founder and CEO, said: “When you think of rebels, you may think of people who break the rules. The rules we follow are those based upon exploring new ideas and creating positive change for start-ups. Through Rebel Business School, attendees can expect a completely different approach to starting a business.
