Yorkshire duo launch Heavyweight protein bar - with more than 500 calories

The Cherry Bomb flavoured bar will hit the market in November

A new sports nutrition company formed by two childhood friends has created the º£½ÇÊÓƵ's highest calorie protein bar.

Containing more than 500 calories the Suplex Heavyweight Mass Gainer Flapjacks pack more energy into each bar than anything else on the market.

The bars have been developed by Jay Iqbal and Tayyab Zahid who formed their company, Suplex Nutrition, after noticing a gap in the market for high calorie protein bars, for those who wanted to bulk up but struggled to put on weight.

Each bar weighs 120 grams and, along with its high calorie content, also contains 30 grams of protein.

Mr Zahid said: “When we started working out together, we were both really skinny and found it tough to eat enough calories and protein to gain weight and build muscle.

"I was also cycling over 17 miles daily as part of my university commute which simply meant I was burning off way more calories than I could eat.”

After discovering the gap in the market the pair then worked with a local bakery for 18 months to develop their reduced-sugar high-protein flapjacks.

The company plans to launch its first "Cherry Bomb" flavoured bar in November and the pair says they have already received interest from many gym-goers and high-performance athletes.
