Primary care developer and investor Assura Plc said it had expanded its portfolio and pipeline in the third quarter as it reported “continued strong performance”.

The developer, which has a portfolio of 563 properties, said it completed six acquisitions during the three months ended December 31 at a cost of £31.1m.

Assura told investors its immediate acquisitions pipeline increased to £96m, up from £65m in September 2019.

Its development pipeline also increased to £90m in the period, up from £72m reported in September 2019.

The period also saw Assura complete a development in Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire. It is currently on site with 13 developments at a total development cost of £66m.

Chief executive Jonathan Murphy said: “We expanded our market-leading portfolio with the acquisition of six high quality assets and completed our third development of the year in Stow-on-the-Wold.

“We also grew our immediate pipeline of acquisition and development opportunities, reinforcing what was already our strongest in 10 years, to £252m including 13 developments currently on site.

“With the new Government enshrining in law increased funding for the NHS and taking forward the health infrastructure plan, better primary care facilities for patients, staff and services are at the heart of the agenda.
