Public relations guru Lynne Franks is opening a business club for women in Somerset. The communications strategist and author's SEED Hub Club will offer local businesswomen a place to work, collaborate, exchange ideas and join a variety of business-skills workshops.

Ms Franks, who has advised major corporations on women's engagement including McDonald's, Tesco and HSBC, has set up the hub in response to the increasing demand for work and networking space dedicated to women, she said.

The members' hub, at 3 Market Place in Wincanton, will be a working centre available five days a week for people who are self-employed, running a local business or not-for-profit organisation, or wanting to explore and gain advice on launching a new enterprise.

Ms Franks said: “Magic happens when women get together; unexplainable coincidences arise, new friendships form, business collaborations spark and inspirational stories emerge. I believe that combining feminine values along with a more conscious, and holistic approach releases untapped potential in people, businesses and communities, both locally and globally.”

A launch event is taking place on Monday (April 15), from 9.30am to 3pm, at the SEED Hub for local businesspeople to find out what's on offer. There will also be a 'Seed Sowing Ceremony' at 1pm.

Ms Franks added: “I’m incredibly excited to launch the new SEED Hub Club here in Wincanton and I invite everyone to join us at the introductory event.

“I’m hugely looking forward to bringing local businesswomen together at SEED Hub Club where enterprise, projects and ideas can develop, grow and flourish in this unique, dedicated space.”

Among the community initiatives that Ms Franks has already delivered at the SEED Hub are a number of youth projects in partnership with Somerset Council and business start-up training programmes for local women in partnership with the Balsam Centre.
