A Northumberland woman who set up a business selling homewares is hunting out overseas suppliers after seeing significant growth.

Hannah Hubb has to balance her career within the agricultural industry with her own enterprise – the homewares and fashion accessories webshop Pop & Flo, a sideline venture she started five years ago to indulge her love for home decor. Ms Hubb is now sourcing stock from abroad to grow her product range and meet demand, having seen substantial growth in customer numbers.

Launched in 2019 at her Longframlington home, Pop & Flo offers a selection of handcrafted products, including everything from vases, jugs and tablewear, to planters, bags, cards and jewellery sourced from artisans across the º£½ÇÊÓƵ, Turkey, France and Portugal. The business – which takes its name from her two daughters, Poppy and Flora – has won a growing number of customers shopping for its distinctive pieces, including its popular cabbageware collection, traditionally glazed in a family-run factory in Portugal.

  • Ms Hubb says her entrepreneurial flair comes from her days growing up on a farm in North Yorkshire, where she developed a love for the outdoors. Having developed a successful career in agriculture, she expanded into the homeware industry, combining her skills and passions to create a business that she says reflects her vision of affordable luxury.

She said: “Launching Pop & Flo was a natural progression for me. I wanted to create a collection that was both rustic and elegant, affordable yet luxurious. It’s about finding pieces that are charming and practical. I think my USP is my price point on unique items that have a certain whimsical charm.

“I love finding traditional items with a twist, things that are pretty and practical. It’s rewarding to offer products that people can use daily and also cherish. Pop & Flo is what keeps me grounded amid the craziness of everyday life. It’s about sharing my love for beautiful homeware with others and seeing the joy it brings.”

Looking ahead, she is focused on expanding Pop & Flo’s reach while maintaining the brand’s appeal, with plans to take part in upcoming events including the Yorkshire Pop Up at Hutton Wandesley estate in September.
