Plymouth’s Oceansgate marine enterprise centre has begun a series of business support events to help start-ups “succeed in challenging times”.

The team at the waterfront business zone, in Devonport, is running a Friday Start-Up Club throughout the autumn with a Meet the Expert and masterclass programme too.

On Tuesday, October 12, there is a Social Media Masterclass presented by Scott Grenney of Plymouth’s Eddystone Media, from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

This is also a four-part series of workshops running every Friday from October 8 to November 5, designed for “equipping start-up businesses to succeed in challenging times”.

And the Meet The Expert programme holds regular one-to-one business advice events and workshops allowing businesses the opportunity to meet and interact with a range of business experts covering a wide range of topics.

The Social Media Masterclass - at The Loft, on the Barbican, will explain how managing social media can help a business thrive, the benefits of using Facebook for business and a look at recent and upcoming changes.

Mr Grenney will also speak about how to make a social media channel stand out from the crowd, how to build followers and increase engagement on Facebook, how to manage social media content creation effectively and scheduling posts, including time saving tips.

Meanwhile, the Friday Start Up Club began on October 8 but continues on October 15, 22 and November 5 in “Covid-friendly” venues across the city.
