A new aesthetics clinic is hoping to educate people about the effects of cosmetic treatments such as lip fillers and anti-wrinkle treatment.

Cosmedic Aesthetics launched in Newcastle-under-Lyme with an open day last month to showcase the treatments and raise money for the NSPCC.

Consultant plastic surgeons Amir Ismail and Shahidul Huq, who are both doctors at the Royal Stoke University Hospital, set up the private business to treat non-surgical issues such as botulinum toxins and fillers.

Amir, aged 42, from Stoke, said: “Part of the reason we wanted to go into this sector was to deliver this care responsibly and safely by professionals who are experienced in dealing with these materials and the complications that can arise from them.

“Some people are not fully informed about the potential risks, and that is something really important to consider.

“There is a trend for younger people seeking these treatments, which is why it is so important to have a consultation with an expert who can guide them through the process and the pros and cons.”

Amir has worked at Royal Stoke for four years, but has been carrying out these procedures since 2006.

He added: “From their infancy these treatments have really evolved in that time period.
