Plans for a technology business park that promises to create 1,200 permanent jobs in North Wales have been approved.
Stena Line has secured outline planning permission from Anglesey County Council for its 220-acre Prosperity Parc at the former Anglesey Aluminium site in Holyhead.
The scheme will include over 220,000 square metres of data centre, industrial and office development as part of a new low-carbon campus. It will also include a battery energy storage system benefitting from the site’s existing grid connection.
Prosperity Parc is the first major site to come forward as part of Anglesey Freeport. Following approval of the freeport’s full business case, the technology park’s planning application marks a major step forward in delivering on its key growth commitments.
At its peak, the proposals are forecast to generate up to £578m of growth in the local economy each year and create around 1,200 jobs. The construction phase would see a further 890 jobs created on top of supply chain opportunities.
In addition to new jobs, the project will channel targeted investment into local training, education, and skills development - ensuring that communities across Anglesey benefit from increased opportunities close to home.
Ian Hampton, managing director of Anglesey Freeport, Stena Line, said: “We are delighted to have received approval for Prosperity Parc. This development reflects our commitment to Anglesey and Anglesey Freeport, helping us to deliver on the promises of the freeport, creating jobs for the people of Anglesey, protecting the Welsh heritage and language, and boosting economic growth across North Wales.
"We will now focus on working with our partners and the local community to deliver more detailed plans as we continue to invest in Anglesey.”
