People on the move: key North East appointments and promotions

Business advisory firm Ryecroft Glenton (RG) has welcomed eight new team members across its audit, accounts and agriculture teams.

The firm has strengthened its audit team with the addition of Vashenka Naidoo and Anton Vassilounis as two audit seniors, while Emily Halsall and James Bell join the firm’s accounts department. Jake Macintosh and Connor Priest also join the audit department, and two trainees – Stephanie Roots and Alex Shipsey – are studying for their accounting technician qualification.

Newcastle housebuilder Bellway has appointed Shane Doherty as chief financial officer. Mr Doherty, who was the group CFO of Cairn Homes PLC , a company trading on both the Euronext Dublin and the LSE, until April 2024, will join Bellway on December 2 when he will be appointed as a member of the board. Before Cairn he held a number of other senior finance roles across sectors including CFO at Morgan McKinley and European finance director at Flutter Entertainment PLC, formerly Paddy Power Betfair PLC.

Mr Doherty said: “I am delighted to be joining Bellway as chief financial ifficer. Bellway is recognised as a leading º£½ÇÊÓÆµ housebuilder with an excellent track record of delivering both strong shareholder returns and high‐quality, sustainable homes. I look forward to working with the Bellway team in executing its long-term volume growth plans.”

He will replace Keith Adey, who will be stepping down from his current role as group finance director on December 1. Mr Adey will remain on the board and will continue to have an active role in the business as an executive director until March 2025.

Sedgefield tech firm Filtronic has appointed Laurence Scullion as its new director of product engineering. Mr Scullion has over two decades of leadership experience in hybrid electronics, semiconductors, scaling manufacturing and innovative product development. Before joining Filtronic, he served as the back-end senior director at Pragmatic.

His appointment comes as Filtronic focuses on expanding its global footprint and boosting its technological capabilities.
