The parent firm of South West Water and Bristol Water has been recognised as a leading business for female representation for the second year in a row.
Exeter-based Pennon, has been named in The FTSE Women Leaders Review as the number one utilities firm in the country for representation of women on boards and in leadership positions.
The group, which provides water to around 3.5 million people across the South West, is one of the few in the FTSE 250 index that has both a female chief executive, Susan Davy, and chair, Gill Rider.
Chief people officer Adele Barker, said: “We are incredibly proud to have so much diversity within our business and we know from experience that balanced teams are better at solving complex problems, delivering innovative solutions, spotting new opportunities, as well as being powerful drivers of resilience.”
Ms Barker added: “We hope that by promoting gender equality and diversity in our sector will inspire women to pursue leadership roles and consider a career in our fascinating industry.”
The independent report, supported by the government, tracked the progress being made in breaking down barriers to progression of women into directorships and senior executive roles. In terms of women on boards, the report revealed that 55.6% of Pennon board members are women.
