An overheard conversation in a coffee shop has helped a Derby social media agency go on to achieve a record-breaking year.
Status Social, which provides social media management and training, has reported record profits and turnover.
The business has also recently moved into new offices in Friar Gate, which are two-and-a-half times larger than its previous home in nearby Friar Gate Studios, giving the company more room for future expansion.
According to directors Mark and Kerry Saxby, one of the firm鈥檚 biggest contract wins came after overhearing a conversation in a Starbucks coffee shop in Little Eaton, in which the topic of social media came up.
Kerry said: 鈥淭here was a meeting taking place on the other side of the room and because it was pretty quiet in the coffee shop, we couldn鈥檛 help but overhear some of the conversation.
鈥淚t didn鈥檛 take us long to realise that two of the people were from a company we had heard of 鈥 and they were discussing a campaign with a supplier.鈥
After the meeting broke up, Mark and Kerry wandered over and introduced themselves.
Mark said: 鈥淲e said we hoped we weren鈥檛 appearing rude but we had overheard the words 鈥榮ocial media鈥 and we happened to be from the best social media agency in the 海角视频 鈥 Status Social!
鈥淥ne of them recognised me from being connected on LinkedIn and said she鈥檇 be in touch. A few weeks later we were invited in for a chat to discuss an exciting new project!鈥

Since October 2017, Status Social鈥檚 monthly sales records have been consistently broken with the last financial year being the firm鈥檚 best yet. Turnover was up 52% in 2018-19 while profits increased by 59%.
Kerry said: 鈥淲e and our clients have generated nearly 拢1.5 million in recordable sales through social media and that has really helped prospective clients trust that we will do a good job for them.
鈥淲e鈥檝e also seen a big increase in the number of businesses using our social media recruitment service to find great candidates at an affordable rate.鈥
