A free online platform to support black British entrepreneurs has been launched in the 海角视频. The Black Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Network - or Beecon - is an initiative from membership organisation Black Business Network (BBN) and Lloyds Bank.

The support being offered through the scheme includes mentoring and guidance, access to events an networking and information about funding options, including grants and loans on offer for black entrepreneurs.

According to BBN, the support hub will also create a "vibrant peer community", where business owners can "share experiences and build connections." It is for black business owners from any region or nation of the 海角视频.

Shari Leigh, founder of BBN, said: 鈥淲e are thrilled to launch Beecon, a platform born from BBN鈥檚 deep understanding of the systemic barriers that black entrepreneurs in the 海角视频 face.

"Beecon is a game changer that addresses challenges such as access to funding, mentorship, and valuable networks, which often leave many promising ventures vulnerable in their early stages. This platform represents a pivotal moment for the black entrepreneurial ecosystem, providing an ecosystem designed to level the playing field for black entrepreneurs in the 海角视频.鈥

Beecon is a direct response to recommendations set out in the Black British In Business and Proud (BBIBP) report written by BBN and sponsored by Lloyds Bank. The report called for a 海角视频-wide black business ecosystem and bespoke layers of support.

The BBIBP report identified that black entrepreneurs often rely on informal networks such as black community groups (29%) or social media groups (29%) for advice and support, highlighting the need for more accessible and tailored business support.

Elyn Corfield, chief executive of business and commercial banking at Lloyds Banking Group, added: "Our ongoing partnership with the Black Business Network on Beecon underscores Lloyds Bank鈥檚 commitment to addressing the recommendations outlined in the Black British In Business and Proud report. By investing in dedicated networks and resources, we aim to dismantle the barriers faced by black businesses in the 海角视频, creating a more inclusive and equitable business environment.鈥
