One of Bristol's oldest charities has appointed the South West head of one of the 海角视频鈥檚 largest food non-profits as its new chief executive.
Julian Mines will join Bristol Charities at the beginning of May, to head up the organisation which provides opportunities and support through grants, housing and charitable projects in Bristol and South Wales.
Mr Mines has been chief executive of FairShare South West for the past five years, during which he has helped expand the surplus food redistribution group鈥檚 impact with local charities, schools and projects.
He joins Bristol Charities鈥 board as the organisation continues with plans to redevelop the The Vassall Centre site in Fishponds, which it acquired last year.
The group, whose history stretches back more than 600 years, is looking to build affordable homes for older people alongside work and meeting spaces for the facility鈥檚 current and potentially new tenants, as well as facilities for the wider community.
Mr Mines' predecessor Anne Anketell, who has led Bristol Charities for eight years. will continue to lead the team of architects, planners and the organisation鈥檚 trustees and partners working on The Vassall Centre project until her successor's arrival.
Bristol Charities said Ms Anketell would also continue to support through the public consultation process the plans, to ensure a 鈥渟eamless transition鈥.
Mr Mines said: "As a Bristolian I am very excited and proud to be joining Bristol Charities, an organisation with such a longstanding commitment to the city, at such a pivotal moment.
