Nottingham firm Games Workshop has teamed up with Escapologic to announce the latest development of its Warhammer brand - the first-ever official Warhammer 40,000 live-action escape room.
The latest in a string of success stories from the brand, Immaterium is the world’s first live action escape room inspired by the books, games and miniatures of the world-renowned Warhammer 40,000 universe.
It takes the thrill of miniature tabletop gaming by physically plunging players into an elaborately detailed rogue trader ship heading towards a warp storm.
The room, which will be located in Castle Gate, Nottingham, is scheduled to open in April.
Players will touch, smell and feel all areas of the ship and everything on it – including a talking Servitor. Up to five people at a time can immerse themselves in Immaterium.
The goal is to crack challenges and solve puzzles to access different areas, finish the game and escape before 60 minutes are up and the ship succumbs to the denizens of the Dark Powers.
Simon Stokes, Escapologic’s chief executive and key master, said: "Think real challenges, real stakes and real tension.
"We’ve worked very closely with Games Workshop to create a totally immersive experience that we are confident will chime with the experiences and expectations of a passionately devoted fanbase.

"Fans can look forward to intricately designed areas that interconnect in ingenious ways and fiendishly challenging puzzles, games and codes. That’s all I’m saying for now – we don’t want to give the whole game away.”
The news follows Lenton-based Games Workshop's announcement earlier this month of a huge increase in profit and sales.
Shares jumped as its half-year report revealed pre-tax profits of £58.6 million for the six months to December 1, 2019 - an increase of 44 percent on the same period in December 2018, while its sales also rose 19 percent to £148.4 million.
The firm also confirmed discussions are continuing into the possibility of a TV series based on the Eisenhorn series of Warhammer novels being created.

In a statement, the firm said: "Our development work on a TV series, based on the Eisenhorn series of novels, continues to make good progress.
"No production contracts have been signed yet nor have we booked any guaranteed royalties.
"Our small, dedicated team of experts continues to work with our external partners learning how this industry works to ensure, if it does go into production, our first TV show is not only true to our IP but is a commercial success too."
