North East deals of the week: key acquisitions, contracts and investments you shouldn't miss

Companies announcing deals this week include Iksuda Therapeutics, Elmtronics, Wastefront and Parkdean Resorts

An award-winning County Durham company working in electric vehicle charging has been acquired by a global leader in the sector.

Consett-based Elmtronics – winner of the high growth and ambition award at the Durham, Sunderland and South Tyneside Business Awards in 2020 – has been acquired by EV charging company Mer, headquartered in Israel, to strengthen its position in the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ and “create the best and most customer-oriented EV charging experience”.

Elmtronics - which was singled out as a One to Watch in 2022 by The Journal and the BusinessLive website - specialises in electric car-charging points for homes, businesses and the public sector, designing, installing and maintaining electric vehicle-charging stations.

North East holiday park operator Parkdean Resorts has announced it has acquired a Yorkshire caravan transport company.

The Newcastle business, which has 67 parks around the º£½ÇÊÓÆµ including nine in the North East and Yorkshire, has snapped up Hanson European Caravan Transport Ltd.

Parkdean said the acquisition, made for an undisclosed sum, will facilitate the servicing of all of its resorts and ensure a closer relationship between the two companies.

North East pharmaceutical firm Shield Therapeutics has announced a deal worth up to £1m to pave the way for the sale of its lead drug in Canada.
