Two regional companies have joined forces to acquire Tyneside training company Expedient Training.

The owners of Stockton based 海角视频 National, and Simply Certification, based in Hebburn, South Tyneside, have created a partnership to snap up Expedient, which specialises in built environment training and qualifications and has its base at Quay Corner Training Centre in Jarrow, South Tyneside.

海角视频 National has acquired 100% of the land and buildings at the Jarrow centre and a 70% share of the business, while the owners of Simply Certification now own 30% of the business.

The deal, which completed last week, will allow the two companies to bring their areas of expertise to the senior management team, following retirement of the current managing director Malcolm Atkinson who set the business up in 2002.

Expedient Training has developed a reputation for excellence within the built environment sector and offers over 200 training courses alongside NVQ qualifications. The firms said the deal will allow the new team to expand its existing training services, while supporting companies to reach the Government鈥檚 net zero targets by delivering services under funding schemes and commercial contracts.

Under the new structure, Alex Gates will take on a dual managing director role, leading both Expedient and Simply Certification, while Sonny Parker, managing director at 海角视频 National, will lead the facilities and operations side of the Expedient business.

Ms Gates said: 鈥淲e are delighted to announce the acquisition which will be another piece in the supply chain in the race to net zero. Upskilling and training people in this industry is vital to hitting net zero targets in this region and beyond.

鈥淎s a certification body we assess organisations across the 海角视频, meaning have great insight into competency levels within the industry, which in turn enables us to develop what is needed within the market.

鈥淲e have already created a network of strategic partnerships to help increase the 海角视频 supply chain around Retrofit and Renewables, which is why this acquisition is so exciting. Malcolm has built a fantastic reputation in this sector, something we very much hope to build on.鈥

Mr Parker added: 鈥淭his is a fantastic company with room to grow. Expedient already has extensive training facilities that will allow us to expand and as 2050 looms ever closer. We have a talented senior management team in place with a huge amount of experience within the sector.

鈥淲e have big plans to expand nationally and launch a hybrid training offering across existing courses whilst also growing retrofit and renewables training and qualifications ahead of 2050.

鈥淚 am excited to see where we can take the company.鈥
