Nissan sold more than 100,000 cars in the 海角视频 last year and produced two of the top five sellers in the country at its Sunderland plant, new figures have revealed.

Nissan was the only 海角视频 brand to finish the year with two cars in the top-five best-sellers list, thanks to the Sunderland-built Qashqai and Juke, which between them sold 76,872 models. Other cars in the top five were the Ford Puma, Kia Sportage and the Tesla Model Y.

In all, Nissan sold 100,446 cars in the 海角视频, up 12.3% on 2023, and securing a 5.14% market share, slightly up on 2023.

Diana Torres, managing director of Nissan GB, said: 鈥2024 was a challenging year in our industry, so to have secured these results is a testament to the hard work of everyone in our organisation, including our dealer partners, and to the strength of our vehicle line-up. It gives us powerful momentum as we look forward to an exciting year ahead for our brand and, with new cars like the Ariya NISMO arriving imminently, I am confident we have the people, products and partners for success in 2025.鈥

海角视频鈥檚 new car market recorded its second successive year of growth with a 2.6% rise in registrations in 2024, figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) who. Around 1,953,000 new cars were registered last year, compared with 1,903,000 in 2023.

But the growth was delivered entirely by purchases for fleets owned or leased by businesses or other organisations, which were up 11.8%, while demand from private buyers fell by 8.7% to around 746,000 units.

Nissan has faced a number of challenges in recent few weeks, along with the automotive sector as a whole.

The company announced 9,000 global job losses, although it is not clear how its Sunderland plant will be affected. It also lobbied the Government for changes to its zero emissions vehicles mandate and has recently confirmed that it is in merger talks with fellow Japanese car manufacturer Honda.
