A North East climate tech start-up is set to scale after securing investment from a regional female investment firm.
Amy Mooney is the founder of new business Mutha Cuva, a new subscription-based business aimed at solving the urgent clean energy challenge of heat pump servicing and maintenance.
Ms Mooney, a heating company director, devised the business to remove the hassle for homeowners while helping engineers work more efficiently. The firm’s platform offers automated service bookings, remote monitoring and AI-powered engineer support, and it is designed to work with any heat pump model

Last month, the entrepreneur launched a £250,000 pre-seed investment round to help scale the business, which is based in Newcastle.
Now she has secured “significant” investment from regional female investment firm, Lifted Ventures, with participation from nine angel investors in the Lifted Ventures network.

While heat pumps are essential to achieving net zero, the industry has overlooked a critical piece of the puzzle: aftercare. The fresh investment will be used to expand operations in the North East and accelerate technology development, with a focus on creating a seamless, efficient experience for both homeowners and service engineers - before scaling nationally from 2026.
Lifted Ventures, co-founded by Ms Dargue and Ms Oldham, is an early-stage investment network focused on boosting funding access for female founders outside of London, while also advocating the advantages of investing in women.
It operates two angel investment networks, one built solely of women backing women, and also offers education, community-building and consultancy. As of September 2025 its has leveraged investment of over £1.1m into female-led businesses.
